They're great! I actually have a request from a customer to hatch some quality ones for her however she wants LF and I'm having a heck of a time finding white Cochin LF eggs.
All tolled it looks like I have 4 BLRW chikcs from the eggs I hatched. 1 blue with a straight comb, 1 blue with correct...
Yes, I'm definitely culling for straight combs. Any bird showing one won't be bred forward in my breeding or show stock but will find a home in my general laying flock or sold to someone simply looking for a pretty egg layer. If you can find the RR instead of the Rs pullets that would be...
My thoughts behind it is that if you find an RR roo, any chicks from him will only show R. They will only show the R even if hen/pullet carries the recessive s. Even better if a nice pullet can be found with RR. I'm not too sure about how this will affect the egg laying capacity as that was...
Sounds right, breed the back up roo to a straight comb to see. Seems like you wont go wrong with either Marans or Olive Eggers. The lone chick is in a brooder with a few Cream Legbars that arrived from GFF today. Poor babies had a very rough time, an extra day in the mail and then a...
Thats a tough one. Personally I'd need more specific pointers on how to breed this out as ultimately we should be striving for both RR in the roo and in the pullet. I'm sure I'll be posting more pics of chicks in the morning.
Found some info. If I'm reading this correctly this means that the RC Wyandotte roo would have a recessive as well as the RC Wyandotte pullet. It looks like the first improvement would be to try to get a good looking roo who is RR.

I was so excited I didn't even pick up on it at first. Hopefully its just one . In about 6 months I was hoping to put a couple of these birds in with the two I just got from Foley for a breeding quad. Genetically are single combs recessive like blue eyes? Do both the male and female have to...
They came this morning. Their feathers are a little rough from the trip but they seemed to have traveled well. I've got them in an isolation coop that I just finished. Good thing too as I've heard the roo sneeze 2x.
I wasn't able to candle the eggs again and put them all in lock down, including the BLRW. Not sure which are fertile at this point. I've got one 150 lumins flash light that I use to candle (along with other regular flashlights) My youngest ds was caught using it during the storm. Now when I went...
They were brought to the PO at 8:40 yesterday morning. Supposedly the tracking states its guaranteed for 3PM today, NOT. They were then processed in a center in KY at 7:40 PM. There is nothing after this. I keep checking every hour or so as I'm an anxious mama. At this point I'm hoping to get a...
Ugh, the birds had a USPS shipping guarantee of 3pm today. They have not made it to my PO and they do not expect another shipment today! I called them and they're happy to refund the seller if he files a claim but not the receiver. They don't have any other info on them except what I can...
