Mrs lost her job due to a huge(20%!) company wide downsize on May4. We'll be fine for 6-10months and hoping she finds something soon. Too brain scattered to play around on here but planning to come back later. The chickens are doing well.
April 30th 4 hens = two eggs(missing the big one and the part timer that lays pale nubbly eggs but not every day)
Maaaybe we’re past the naked eggs? There was a suspicious wet poo this morning and no big egg… but maybe she’s just clearing house and gearing up again?
My mrs and I were talking about the same thing. I’ve gotta take a look at FarmOS because I’ve just started and my apple numbers file is getting ridiculous.
Before we moved I was gonna work on a to-do app but I think flock records is more urgent/interesting. :)
I will post on the forum if I...
From 4 hens on April 29(yesterday) = a no-shell egg in the poop tray greeted me in the morning, and then there was 3eggs to collect in the afternoon.
I pulled some oyster shell out of the dispenser and made a few piles on the grass as well as adding a couple spoons of yogurt to their lunch as...
From 4 hens April 28 = one naked egg in the poop tray overnight, one very thin shelled egg that was utterly crushed in the nestbox, and two more eggs.
Pretty sure this was my fault as I took their coop away for cleaning and to install an auto door the afternoon before. I gave them water of...
Gluten free oatmeal raisin cookies today.
I usually whip up one or two batches of this and keep the dough portioned in the freezer so we can just bake one or two each whenever we want instead of eating all 24 in two days.
The biggest problem with trying to make shelf stable pickled eggs is the fact that the vinegar is not going to penetrate all the way inside to make it safe all the way through. There are no directions because they couldn’t make a foolproof recipe.
I know people sometimes do things and don’t get...
Did you use sugar or an alternative sweetener like splenda or stevia? Mold sounds like it wasn’t acidic enough and that might happen if the mother wasn’t producing enough acid due to lack of food.
Not meant as pointing fingers:oops:… I just like to puzzle out problems.
3/4 today and I just found out that the bird I was told lays white eggs is most likely one of the hens providing tan eggs! That make so much more sense than having a freeloader and an over-worker.
Yorkshire Coop was kind enough to point me in the right direction.
OMG THANK YOU! That makes so much more sense. :clap
The previous owner just said "the rest are brown so here, have this DeKalb so you have some white eggs too." It was dark and I guess she assumed the hen was a DeKalb White but a DeKalb Amberlink makes more sense with the eggs and the fact she...
The lady who sold me my chickens told me that this hen is a DeKalb and should be laying white eggs. We’ve been getting 3 or 4 eggs a day from 4 hens but she’s the only one who’s supposed to be giving white eggs and we’re only getting brown and tan.
