So I have purchased 3 SLW, 3 barnevelder and 1 Australorp from a breeder. So far I am about 70% convinced that there are 2 female barnevelder, 1 male barnevelder and 1 male Australorp.
But I am still baffled what the 3 silver laced wyandottes are. They are about 5 weeks when the following...
Hi all,
I have an arrange of teenage chickens atm, no idea on the breed or gender of most.
Each picture is one individual chicken
Any help is greatly appreciated thanks.
This is my chick, Noodle, Orpington mix hatched the second week of October. Not sure what it is. The comb says cockerel but the feathers seem rounded?
I’m scratching my head with this one
Hi! We have some young chickens but pretty sure we heard some crowing this morning. Now we are trying to figure out if we potentially have more than one rooster.
These are the 3 (personality wise) we think could be cockerels. We are nearly certain the gray silkie is male. We’d love your...
This company, IQ bird testing, has been recommended to me. I noticed on there it has the option to test eggshells. That would be great to send them what I’ve got from the incubator right from the get go. But if it’s dried out and whatever other issues there may be with this validity— is it possible?
Hello! This is my first ever post after months of lurking as a non member!
I have a small mixed flock.
These are my believed americuanas (no Tufts/moustache)
I'm aware it's hard to sex from birth.. I hatched these from an egg in April this year and there still not laying ... Can anyone tell...
i have 6 serama chicks that hatched october 13th so they’re about 4.5 weeks old. i’m fairly certain about half of them but the other half i’m not quite sure. i’ll label them 1-6 for clarity. thank you for your time and input!!
1) male
2) male
3) thinking female based on demeanor but the...
Hi all, I'm a first time chicken mum to a brood of 3 Silver Laced Wyandotte chicks. Two have now reached 6 weeks of age, and I'm starting to suspect I have one hen (Amelia in pics) and one roo (Greta in pics), however was wanting to get a second opinion among those vastly more experienced than...
I feel like I’m consistently hatching out more males than females. It seems each time I do a hatch I will get 60-70% males. I thought maybe it was just a one time thing but this is my 5th hatch and only 6 out of 18 were female.
I had someone that was supposed to come pick up 7 chicks this...
I’m guessing white is a pullet.. maybe… ugh idk.. and black is a cockerel. (just like my last two silkies).
I do have a third that I’m 80% positive is a hen. ( I’ll take a pic later to see what you all think)
What do you all think about these two though?
They are about 8-9 weeks old.
🙏🙏🙏
I have 4 button quail that are around 5-6 weeks old. When can you start telling the sex so i can separate them appropriately? I definitely don’t want the males to hurt or kill each other. Can they be sexed by color ? I know i have one white and one silver, but i’m not sure what the other two are...
Hi,
My chicks are about 16 weeks old and we’re having trouble figuring out what sex these are.
We have no experience with polish and silkie birds so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
We have two peafowl I know one is a boy but I can’t tell what this one is. I see it has some barring on its back but I think it’s disappearing? What do you think?
I’d love to start a thread with pics of what everyone’s ACTUALLY getting in their grow outs purchased from different hatcheries. Let’s start with anyone who has purchased silkies from mypetchicken.com
For the last few days I’ve noticed my now three week old chicks have been shaping up to each other and fighting like roosters, jumping up and lashing out with their feet. Just wondering if female chicks normally do this too or if I’ve probably got all roosters? 🐓 Thanks 😊
