🐣🐄Black Copper Marans and Whiting True Blues. Lots of videosšŸŽ„

Thanks! It’s fun to watch em pop out like popcorn.
I have a bad incubator for viewing and pictures . Here’s a view the different colors coming out. I really thought the black birds would’ve canceled out the roosters pattern.
Humidity has spiked to about 70%

Looks like lots more are on their way out. I see I can see a lot of pipping and zipping going on. Fun times

Up to about 20 Chicks now. More black ones have hatched. I blew my chances of knowing which chick came from which egg. I’ll have to remember that next time.

Chicks are on day 4 and got moved to the outside brooder yeaterday. There's a few clean faced chipmunk types that I plan on keeping. Got 1 whiting true blue that hatched a day after everybody else. Only chick I can confirm what egg it hatched from.

I’ve got 50 in the incubator so far and I’ll add any more fresh eggs from today.
I took weights of each egg and a few notes.
Toasty the brown patterned marans cross that lays those pinkish brown eggs layed 6 nice eggs in the last 8 days. She my only non-black patterned layer.
Looks like 24 marans eggs from 5 hens in 7 days. Might get some more today.
Humidity is at the 30%. I’ll let it drop to 20 before adding any more water.
Hatch date would be March 22nd.

How am I so far behind on this thread? Going to catch up.. must have been my internet issues I've been having.

The hens have been producing well and they have been selling as fast as they can produce them. @wrathsfarm A lot of offers for pure BCM, makes me wish I had kept a good BCM rooster.
Incubator hatch is on day 17. Im looking forward to seeing what offspring these chickens bear. It's been a long year and half to get the project to this point.

Anybody want to guess how many black/penguin chicks hatch out of these 49 eggs? I'm thinking all of the marans will be black,
probably 75% of the olive eggers,
zero% of the pink/brown eggs,
and 100% of the blue eggs.

Missed this one also...sheesh.
Yes you need a male BCM for pures. What happened to your cockerel you gave to friend or relative? How's he looking? And can you get some hatching eggs from his program?

I'm not selling hardly any mixed hatching eggs, everyone's after the BCMs and Olives eggs and day olds.

I'm still selling about a dozen every other day of the mixed colored hatching eggs. That mix includes f1 olive eggers, blue-green easter eggers and some true blues.
People do want the BCM eggs the most. I think they know they are the darkest available and also fundamental in breeding the dark olives too.
I have been talking to the breeder that I got my original BCM eggs to see if i can get another dozen, but I'm full up with these chicks right now to responsibly hatch anymore. I want to see what kind of interest people have in buying the current chicks. If they sell out quickly, I'll get some new BCM eggs.

Sounds like a good plan, hope you sell all your wanting to.. All 22 of my BCMs due April 7th are sold. 15 BCMs and 5 OEs are sold of the next hatch I set.

It's been busy here with 4 going broody on top of it.
