🐣🐄Black Copper Marans and Whiting True Blues. Lots of videosšŸŽ„

I’ve got 33 eggs in the incubator. Some whiting true blues, pure black copper maran and some f1 olive eggers.
Outside I have a broody on 10 Easter egger eggs. Should be some interesting looking chicks in that clutch.
One of my marans gave me a nice bloom today. Seems like it’s been getting progressively heavier. I’m glad I got a few of those in the incubator.

Been doing a dry hatch so far and monitoring the weights at day 7 and day 11. Some have lost a little more weight than the target and some have lost a little less than target and some are right on target. so, I guess we are doing alright. Humidity has been a steady 25% and temps are a stable 99.5F

@wrathsfarm I am hesitant about not bringing the humidity up to 50% at hatch, but I have a feeling it will be ok not adding any water. With 33 eggs, there should be enough water in the air when they start hatching.

I've got another broody also. The crested black fibro hen named Pepper. Been debating on using her for the new black copper marans chicks when they hatch in 10 days so she can raise the next rooster.

What was your last 2 hatches humidity #s? I ran dry straight thru upper teens, low 20s and it spiked over 60 at hatch. I'm thinking about raising humidity in this hatch really only because of the Ameracaunas. I won't go over 50 at lockdown tho.
Candling tonight.

Can't beat a broody. I split 8 OEs between 2 broodys this last hatch that didn't sell.
This hatch I've got timed with purple band to take some, she's hatching hers around the next day.

The last hatch I added water to keep it around 25-40% range. Probably averaged around 30% during days 1-18, then I upped to 50% at lockdown. It spiked to at least 74%, i think I saw that number after most chicks had hatched.
What makes you think the Ameraucanas need more humidity? I have 8 Whiting true blue eggs in here and they have some odd shells, kind of brittle with some calcium spots.

I should say I selected out of 79 total eggs... 38 round ones that are predicted pullets... and 5 pointy ones that are predicted male. These 5 are from the pure Black Copper Marans that I picked up from the local farm. I'm hoping to get a decent rooster out of those big dark eggs.

I should no more tonight after I candle but wondering about the thinner shells than the Marans. It's been awhile since I've done any other eggs and still trying to find that sweet spot for my hatches.
