i am getting my first flock of 4 and was wondering, is a 10x10 run big enough for 4 chickens?

Plenty!!! Each chicken needs at least 4 to 5 square feet of space. You're all good!

As long as you have a coop, food, water, and at least 2 nesting boxes. You chickens will be happy to have so much space to them selves! Good luck!

Do you have a coop also to go with the run? I put a couple of tall stumps I cut down into my chicken run. I have a plywood box that is open on two sides and a set of 2x2's with poles at a 45 degree angle with roosting poles tied on them in my run. The birds get on all of the things I left in there for them.

Do they lay eggs yet? If they don't they will need a place to lay their eggs. Nesting boxes are easy to make. 5 gallon buckets would work as a nesting box too. If they do lay eggs and are happy then I guess they are ok.

Yes I'm going to make one. Do you think I should put the coop inside the run or should I just put the door to the run?

Either would be fine - if you do put it inside the run, though, I would suggest constructing an elevated coop so that the area beneath it is still available to the birds for use as part of their run vs. losing that entire area if the coop is sitting directly on the ground. Having the coop elevated make the most of the space you have available to the birds.
