I need a roof that will not allow rain & snow to make hardware cloth on top to sag. Was going to do similar to picture but didn’t want the kennel/coop (inside) to get too hot so I wanted to know if plastic or metal was best for the top.Metal will always last longer. But what do you mean by "better"?
I'd do metal roofing, it's stronger against a snow load and won't sag. Plastic will become brittle and break/leak in time. If you get galvanized panels, they'll reflect heat. Or paint the roof white. You could also add foam panel insulation under it or spray it with foam, to help insulate against heat AND cold.I need a roof that will not allow rain & snow to make hardware cloth on top to sag. Thank you
Thank you so much. Had picked out tan pvc panels but thought metal just might be better for snow load.I'd do metal roofing, it's stronger against a snow load and won't sag. I plan to have it slanted in hopes of the snow sliding off. Also, it won’t be attached to the kennel. You may still have issues with snow load (depending on how much snow you get) regardless of material if you're planning to install it flat like the image shown.
