I purchased 2 pekin females today from a breeder and they are in very SAD condition. I have never seen two ducks look so neglected with spirits so broken. I have them separate from my others at this time because I am wondering if they may have frothy eye disease. Looking for some advice on nursing these poor gals back to optimal health.
They are 17 weeks old and so skittish. They came out of a box where they were in near darkness packed in like sardines with the others. I have them in a pen with some high protein food and mealworms and a nice large kiddy pool filled to the brink with fresh water. I had to remove the carrier I brought them home in because they wanted to get back inside of it ...after they already projectile vomited all over the inside. They only dip their beaks just enough to get a drink in the pool and won't submerge their heads like they really need to especially if they have some crazy eye gunk like I suspect. They are so dirty and I would love for them to take a bath so they can feel better and more refreshed.
Any advice is welcome because I would love to get these girls to the same standard as my fat healthy boys.
