I purchased 2 pekin females today from a breeder and they are in very SAD condition. I have never seen two ducks look so neglected with spirits so broken. I have them separate from my others at this time because I am wondering if they may have frothy eye disease. Looking for some advice on nursing these poor gals back to optimal health.
They are 17 weeks old and so skittish. They came out of a box where they were in near darkness packed in like sardines with the others. I have them in a pen with some high protein food and mealworms and a nice large kiddy pool filled to the brink with fresh water. I had to remove the carrier I brought them home in because they wanted to get back inside of it ...after they already projectile vomited all over the inside. They only dip their beaks just enough to get a drink in the pool and won't submerge their heads like they really need to especially if they have some crazy eye gunk like I suspect. They are so dirty and I would love for them to take a bath so they can feel better and more refreshed.
Any advice is welcome because I would love to get these girls to the same standard as my fat healthy boys.

Wow they look like dirt bags. Glad you got them it sounds like you know your ducks!

They doo look matted around their eyes probably from foam and goo, Ive given mine regular un medicated eye drops, although thatll be traumatic to give them. Its probably from not being able to wash properly before.

I recently got a pekin that never had a pool before and when she finaly got in the pool here she whent berzerk!

Its not important right now but ide check for bumble foot and keep an eye on what poop looks like

Treat their baths with apple cider vinagar and take lots of pictures and videos for us!

Thank you! Their feet looked okay but I haven't handled them much because I'm trying to give them a chance to settle down from the shock they seem to be in. They act like they've never seen sunlight. I'm gonna head out for some drops tomorrow and add apple cider vinegar to the pool first thing. Hopefully, we can encourage a nice bath tomorrow. Thanks for the response I really appreciate the insight.

now iam no expert, or qualified or even very experienced

@Miss Lydia would be a help here hopefully lots of people will help out

If its too dramatic i wouldnt worry about the drops yet

That is what I was thinking just gently put them in and stand back. As far as their eyes hopefully just some good washing will clear it up. I haven’t had anyone with foamy eye in a long time but I do use ACV in their drinking buckets a couple times a week 1 Tab to a gallon of water isn’t enough to sting but it’s great as a tonic and helps clear up some eye issues. You can also get Terramycin eye ointment at TSC but that would mean hands on so try the ACV first. Bless you for rescuing those poor babies . Some people just need to serve jail time for the way they treat animals. You have mentioned your fat boys makes me feel these girls are going to be thrown to the wolves. How many drakes do you have because if more than one those two little ones aren’t going to be enough.
