2024 Christmas Hatch Chicks

Here are the ones I think are girls. Let me know if you disagree with any of my guesses. Some of them I am only slightly leaning one way or the other, but not confidant. As of the moment I have 10 supposed boy and 11 supposed girl.

More pics! The oldest 2 are now 8 weeks and the youngest ones are 6 weeks. It has been bitter cold here but the babies have been doing okay. Yesterday it was in the low teens for the low and stayed in the 20s most of the day. So I kept them in the small coop area, didn’t let them out into the run. But today it is nicer, above freezing so they are back out and happy. They still have heat pads at night (and freezing days like yesterday.)

Some of these guys I have a pretty good idea if they are boys or girls. Some of them I have flip flopped on though. Lol I question my judgement on several of them. On this thread I will post the ones I think are boys, then on the next post I will put the ones I think are girls.

What a bunch of cutie pies! ❤️❤️

I don't have any disagreements with your gender guesses they're still so hard to guess!

Your frizzle lavender is so cool looking! I don't need one but I really want one :lau

I love the big brown eyes on those mixes too :love

Thanks!!! The lav frizzle I keep going back and forth between boy and girl, but the chick is built smaller than the for sure boy that I have, and thinner legs. The comb seems a little wider though, so can’t say for sure. I am hoping girl though as I already have some frizzle girls, and won’t be able to use a boy as easily.

I hope it's a girl!

Okay, I took photos of the chicks today. They are 7-9 weeks old now! This is the last time taking photos of some of them, because someone is coming to take some of the extra boys from me tomorrow. Im going to give away at least 5, but maybe more. I’ll post pics of the presumed boys on this post, the assumed girls on the next one and then the “not sure” chicks on the following post. PLEASE if you have any guesses on the “not sure” chicks, let me know… as tomorrow I might let some of them go.

Out of these boys, I’m going to give away the 3 black ones (Frankincense, Joy and Piper), the paint NN (Tinsel), the white NN (Swan) and *possibly* the paint silkie (Turtle Dove). I plan on keeping the lavender silkie (Jubilee) and lavender Satin (Minty).

Here are the “Im not sure yet” chicks, and if anyone has any idea it would be so helpful to hear your thoughts, as I’d like to give away more boys tomorrow! I might put more than 2 pics on some of them just for clarity. The 3 paint chicks are the ones I am most on the fence about!!

Planning to keep and continue to grow out:
Black frizzled satin NN (Goose)
Black Satin (Trifle)
Frizzled Lavender (Noggy)
Lavender silkies (Gumdrop and Sugarplum)

Not sure if I should keep:

Paint Silkie (Pear)
Paint Satins (Smaller one with flipped out feather at elbow is Milky and larger one is Vixen)

Okay so this past week I rehomed 6 babies and now I have 15. Of those 15, at least 5 are boys, but I suspect another 1-2 will be boys as well. Of the lavender silkies, there is one for sure boy, one that is very likely a boy because he likes to beat up on the bigger boy, and one that I am hoping is a girl but the comb is a little funny looking.

Here are the boys and the suspected lavender silkie boy.
