23 ducklings in one clutch?!

Pics
And here we go again! I don't know if I can take another brood so soon! This Mama is Grandma's daughter....Just look at that shot of her in flight!

She saw me as she was swimming with the newborns and flew right out of the water to me lol. She's not as good as her Mama with babies so this clutch will certainly dwindle down quickly. I love this photo. I wish it came out clearer.

They know where the fast food restaurant is. At least she doesn't have 19. lol look how tiny ♥️
They must have just hatched this weekend. She was out of the water for quite a while and the babies were just aimlessly swimming all around the pond. I got worried for them because i've seen hawks dive bombing into the pond for fish earlier and did not want to see one get picked out of the water.
So I threw a whole slice of bread into the pond and Mama flew to it and babies made a beeline to her. Whew...but then again I don't want a dozen more lol. 19 plus Mama is more than enough!

They're so big now...almost like adults yet they still follow Mama everywhere. Shouldn't they be starting to break away on their own soon? Bigger ducks eat a lot more than baby ducks and I won't be able to keep up with all 18 of them (one vanished this week)...so i'm hoping they start to go off on their own soon.

And the new set of babies was here too. You have to zoom to see them in the grass, they're so tiny. Grandma duck waddled up to them and gently began pecking and smelling them....I wonder if she was thinking of stealing those too lol. She sure loves baby ducklings and seems to want to mother them all.

They may just stay together as a flock until they hit puberty then the drakes will probably have to separate to keep fighting down. Did you find something else to feed them besides your parrots feed?

I've noticed a few gray doves are now regularly coming around to eat up the leftover parrot seeds, so I found a 5 pound bag of Dove feed for just $5.53 on Amazon w/free shipping which is so cheap I had to order it.

Turns out the ducks love it too, and at such a low price I can get quite a lot of it and be able to feed everyone. Ducks, doves and crows! :)

Here's the listing. I can't believe it's so cheap.
