6/28/2025 - Michigan Chickenstock

I'm in Watervliet, but could probably give you a ride, I'm pretty close to GR.
That would be awesome! I could maybe make a couple quiches to bring. I'll try to bring something, at least, if I can make it!

My extended family will be visiting during that time so it'll be busy at home. I'll keep you updated :)

OH MY GOSH I just cannot wait for my first chickenstock!! Can't wait to see everyone.:ya
I think I will bring a dessert and/or something else. I can't decide what I want to make though....
Is it okay that I bring porcellio laevis "dairy cow" isopods? (rolly pollies.) Also not sure if they'll be mature enough to bring because they are tiny little babies now but hopefully they will mature by the time chickenstock rolls around😄
@TOMTE I would totally get some dubia roaches off of you if my parents would let me 😞 😒 Personally I would just keep them as pets LMAO.
@Chickin Fairy, if there is any other info you need to know plz let me know😊😀😁

HAHA, aw man! I just culled a bunch yesterday and kept one adult male, several almost-adult xxl nymphs (hopefully a couple more males), and about a dozen adult females. And of course lots of small nymphs for my lizard to eat.

I chose the females based on size and color mostly. One huge roach that's almost black, and one smaller one with bright rusty orange markings really stand out as my current faves. If you can ever convince your parents to let you keep dubias I'm sure I'll be able to give you a good breeding group (one male to 5 or 6 females)! My goal is to keep breeding them bigger and healthier, especially if I do ever plan on selling them.

They're great chicken treats and fun pets! 😊

Aww that's so kind of you to offer, I would love that! I really do hope to convince them someday bc it's not like me having some roaches will affect them in any way:idunnolol

That's a good point that I can bring up to my parents, because I know their main concern is them multiplying like crazy..If I need to kill off any if the population is too big then I'll just give em to my chickies lol!

Just lemme know what you want to make when you decide 😁 We're also going to need plates, napkins, silverware, drinks... Any of those you can bring?
