***Added pics****Sorry, I'll have to add pictures later, I haven't been able to get a good picture of Mary (Marty?) yet. Anyway, I got him/her at 3-4 weeks old and she had no pink/red color at all to her comb at all. She's 6-7weeks old now and has lost all of the yellow/orange to her comb. I'm pretty sure she's a he, but I'm wondering if any one has pictures of their 6 week old bantam that has a pink-red comb that actually ended up being a hen. I have the opportunity to pick up a replacement today, but if all turn out to be girls, that would put me over my limit and I'd have to rehome someone anyway. If there is a chance she could stay a she, I would pass on the replacements and just be happy to keep her

I got 3 from the same hatch, the other 2 I have no concerns weather they are girls or not at this point. Both combs are still yellow/pale. As far as body shape, all three look the same and have feathered at approx the same rate.

I promise to add a picture tonight, but I won't promise it will be good...these girls (guy?) are FAST at this age LOL.

Pictures...it was so hard to get good pics, they just do not stay still at this age. My older girls practically pose for the camera now (a year and a half later).

The one in question in the middle. Comb isn't bright red, but it is definitely pink.

The best I could do for full body shot...s/he was running around, so its blurry. Note the little bitty reddish pink waddles

All 3 have little fat round bodies. The one in question might have very slightly longer legs, but its really nothing that stands out. I might even be imagining it. So, what do you think...is there a chance this is a girl? Or is he destined for a new home?

I have a self blue cochin bantam that is three weeks old that is getting a big red comb already. I am hoping for it to be a him as I would like to have a couple cochins to breed I was thinking three hens and a rooster.

Yours to me looks like a little rooster as does my little one but for your sake i hope it is a girl. Who knows hens have tricked me before.

Thanks for the reply

. This one had a teeny tiny comb at 3 weeks and no red at all...so, I was pretty sure he was a she, now not so much.

Does anyone else have any opinions?

Oh, and I was also wondering if his darker blue is any indication of being a roo...The other blue is a much lighter shade.

I hatch a lot of bantam Cochins. Your little guy is a boy. Girls' combs will remain light colored until they get closer to laying. Boys will grow and redden pretty quickly.

Would you take a look at my posting and give me your opinion on my Lola. I hope it isn't Louie as I got too many roosters in the group of chicks I purchased from an individual breeder; I am not allowed to have roosters where I live. Many thanks. Lola is about 2 1/2 months old and the comb is still yellowish, but the waddle is starting to come in red.
