Recently my flock has had my first ever infection of fowl pox. As soon as we figured out what it was we vaccinated the unaffected flock members, and isolated the few who had it bad. One hen (about 7yr old) has her entire face covered in pox, where her eyes and ears are blocked. She has a couple of pox in her mouth too that I am watching closely. She gets crated at night, and stays in a covered hospital pen during the day, along with one roo who cuddles her and keeps her company. She gets hand-fed and watered as much as she wants 3x daily, with two scrambled egg yolks at mid-day. The rest of the affected individuals have recovered far faster than her, but she is at least no longer getting worse. The pox on her face just looks painful/itchy but not infected. Is there anything else I can do to keep her comfortable while she heals?

ps. I can post a pic of her face tomorrow if that can help too

She may have wet pox, since you mentioned a lesion in her mouth. It's a more severe form of fowl pox, that makes the bird very miserable, requiring assistance.

Can you post a picture of the inside of her beak, as well as the pox on her face, ears, and comb? Wet pox inside the beak is much more serious, than dry pox on the body. Are you inna southern state or tropical location? Don’t handle the pox scabs or it can spread the pox virus. Some do use Betadine to paint the scabs with a QTip to help dry them up.
