Hi.
Sooo I have 6 free range chicks. Hatched by my broody? Hen.
When they were 5 weeks old I thought one was sick. Medicated all of them for something that started with a c. Per vet recommendation.

Anyways. They are 8 weeks now. And the one I thought was sick is having issues walking. I never noticed because it was able to stay with mom and I had them in a cage. .

So I have taped his legs together. But will it live?

Am I doing the right thing?
We don't really have a coop. The adults sleep in a tree. We have a temp area for the babies till the fly out.

Hi.

It eats fine. Trips and stumbles to the food then sits down and eats.
Its poop is green. Just like everyone else.
No blood.
The medicine was Corid

I'm just worried it will die because it's getting harder for him to walk. The bigger he gets.
And the other babies are starting to trample him.

When I pen him up alone he just sits by the food. So I am trying to let him out with mama to work his legs.

It would be helpful to get a closeup of it’s legs while standing. Do you see the legs being straight or is there some crookedness of the legs or turning in or out of a foot.
There could be a vitamin or mineral deficiency, a leg bone deformity such as varus valgus deformity, or a slipped tendon. Another possibility could be possible Mareks disease. At this age spraddle or splay leg would not be common, so I would not use that treatment. If it involves one leg, sometimes splinting the one leg might help strengthen the leg to help hold her up. I would start giving her Poultry Cell vitamins 1-2 ml daily (do not use NutriDrench since it does not contain riboflavin.)

Hi.

I noticed at about 4 or 5 weeks. But I thought he was sick.
At times he looks like he is doing the splits.
Here are the best pics I could get of him.

Well
Will that kill him?
What about the other 5 babies and mom?
And how do I treat that.

They are not vaccinated. Mom wasn't even a year old when She went broody.
I got my older chickens for like .50 at an auction.
They have been on medicated food.
I just let mom and the older chickens free range all spring and summer and fall.
Its still warm with bugs and grass where I am.
But they are all getting chick starter 20% because I can't find the eggs so I can't eat them.

But the sick one. What do I do with him? And what about the other babies and flock?
