Is 86.5 F too cool for 2-3 week old chicks?

I decrease the temp. 5 deg. each week until they are ready to go outside. 85 deg. would be about right for 3 week old chicks. If you give them a heat lamp and plenty of room they will find their comfort zone.

Days like today (80+). I put 1 week olds outside in the sun. They love sunshine and grass. They never go far from their rubbermaid tote. I sit there with them. Then bring them inside under a light at night.

I've had mine living outside in the middle of winter at 3 weeks old

Just use a heatplate like an Ecoglow or a Premier heatplate.. concentrated heat when they need it.

My first chicks stayed inside for 4 weeks...NEVER AGAIN!
I want them outside asap
