Sometimes you get slow maturing birds and all you can do is wait. I recently had a 10 month old Wyandotte who never started crowing or attempted to mate as far as I saw.

Thank you, there aren't any older roosters just hens and pullets in with him some even crouch down when I go to pet them. Only one older hen might be the issue she pecks him when I put food down and he runs and squawks.

I see. My best guess would be that both things are going on. He’s still not mature enough to mate and crow, and has yet to gain the respect of (at the very least) the older hen.

Until the former isn’t solved, I doubt there’s much to be done about the latter. It’s one of the things that only time can fix, unfortunately
