Rooster laying eggs

I bought a Polish chicken about 7 or 8 months ago and he has the signs of a rooster. He has saddle feathers. He's mean like a rooster but this morning he has an egg in his cage I'm a little nervous because I don't know if it's going to affect his health but in the same aspect I'm really baffled is there anyone who knows anything

Can you add a picture of the bird in question? If it is the only one in its cage it’s a pullet not a rooster. It’s not uncommon for people newer to chickens to confuse saddle feathers. Being mean is not solely a rooster trait especially if it is in a cage by itself.
