And who is that?

I've just recently been certified as a shochet. I do poultry as well as sheep, goats and cows.
Hi Mrs. Light Sussex, how long did it take you to get certified?

Didn't think I'd find a thread like this because the terms and policies discourage it.

We live in the country side and have many chickens now, wish we knew how to do the Shechita, but since we don't we have to order our kosher meats from Mexico City. But sometimes we can't have it shipped and a couple or several months might go by before we eat meat again.
We're orthodox and only eat kasher; but since I'm a chef, whatever we can't find easily or suddenly feel like, I just make it at home. There are cow owners near by so we go and supervise the milking so we can have Jalav Israel, then I just make cheeses.

I don't know what programs are available in Mexico, here is a website of such a program in the US https://thekoshercut.com/course/shechita-training-programs/

Hi everyone. I was raised Jewish and had my bar mitzvah at 13. Was never kosher, and don't practice much of any religion now, but I will never forget the lessons my wizened guitar playing rabbi instilled in me growing up. Most of it, from what I can recall, focused on looking around and being grateful. It's nice to see this here among the 234937 christian threads that get started every month. Hope I am not intruding. Shalom!

You’re not intruding at all! Welcome!
