They just did this for the gas lines of my house (relining that is) The dug up the back yard but just slipped a new liner in the old pipe to get past the front yard. they did all houses on both sides of out street. No bursting was involved with gas line. I have also heard of it being done for water lines. The issue with sewer lines is that it has to have the correct fall with no dips and rises. There must be a lot of tension on that cable to insure that the pipe remains straight. then there would still be an issue of how well the soil is packed around the pipe so it does not shift later. But they are coming up with new stuff all the time.
I see how it works now! That is pretty neat. So, the slope should remain the same, since they are pulling through the existing pipe. So, is it more expensive or cheaper to have it done this way?
No idea on cost. I'm going to email some companies to get a price range for our area. If it ends up being really expensive, we'll just live with our pipes getting clogged every year and pay to have it unclogged each time.
It sure would be nice to have a brand new clean sewer line that I never need to worry about!
It would def. be worth the investment. The clay tile pipes usually start collapsing eventually. Of course, you already know the roots grow right through them.
Well, I got a bunch of general quotes. They range from $3,500 - $7,000 for a 50 foot "pull" of high grade plastic line. That doesn't include city permitswhich are probably another $1,500.
I guess I expected the price to be in the $5,000 ballpark, but it was good to get some validation from local companies.
So, even "best case" would be $4,500+ Which would pay for about 40 drain cleanings. I guess we'll stick with what we have for now.
Fanfreakintastic! It plugged up again! Usually we get at least a year of no clogs after the clog is removed... this time we only got 4 days!
Snake plumber guy is coming back. Hopefully he just missed a spot vs. something else worse going on. I definitely don't want to be forced to get a new main line installed.
It happened yet again, and this time it was really gross!
We went about 2 years with no problems, but this year we had it back up 6 months ago and again today. I think we're going to have to bite the bullet and get it done.
