Anybody Kill Any Deer Lateley?

I got a doe mid gun season. It's the middle of our muzzle season so I'll be out this weekend. And then later our late doe last week of Dec. I've not seen much this year.

Can't help thinking those beautiful creatures are more beautiful when they are living, breathing and wandering about the countryside.

Do you eat them?

YES, and they are even more beautiful right next to the biscuit and mashed potatoes!

Yes they are beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. ALSO....It is what meat should taste like!!!!!!! Not the factory farmed poop you get from the grocery store that suffers a horrible life.. If you eat any kind of meat, you should learn to harvest your own venison... It is natural meat the way mother nature/god intended us omnivorous to eat... Not the garbage under plastic wrap in the grocery store....

I am not a hypocrite, I accept the burden of killing and processing the meat I eat... If you are Vegan I respect your position... If you are only a vegetarian I will argue you support the death of animals by existing.

x2 MMMMM Yummy! Going out at 5 am hope to get another. Nothing like harvesting your own meat.

Yes, I take a few from time to time. This is my living room wall. I have a very understanding DW who puts up with me. This year has been kinda slow. I'll be out tomorrow again with my muzzle loader hunting some fresh venison. It's the last weekend to hunt with black powder, then back to bow hunting. Need to put up some sausage; breakfast, chorizo, Italian hot and mild. 50/50 venison and pork shoulder mix on all recipes. Nummy I do all my own processing BTW. Nothing gets wasted.

I don't have a problem with the animals being killed for meat - after all, it is what happens to cattle, sheep, and pigs, amongst other animals. What I do have issue with is people who brag about killing. I'm not accusing anyone here of bragging - but I have seen another thread where people were talking about the bragging which goes with the deer hunting. Since it is a pretty unfair 'fight', I really don't see anything to brag about.

Anyway, as I said - no one on this thread has bragged and I respect that you eat the animals you hunt, and waste nothing. I also realise that we are culturally different. Most of you have been brought up with hunting as a way of life - but I have not.

Thank you for taking my point of view on board - without slating me for it. I hope I have not been too critical either. I was a bit worried about voicing my opinion on here, if I'm honest. I am glad that I have been able to do so.

[And I hope I haven't broken any forum rules]

I take it back about the bragging. LOL! Why else would someone have their trophies on the living room wall?

Ok, let me reply with my hillbilly/hippy perspective..... Everything is beautiful.. and some things are here for us to use/utilize for our own survival.. Whenever I make a kill, I say a prayer for the animal's spirit and give thanks for the bounty. I know, slightly pagan ritual, but to me it feels right. I would rather eat wild harvested meat, or meat I've grown myself than pay the $1.89lb walmart brand mystery meat. I understand the sacrifice that was made to feed me and my family, I accept the death as a stain upon my Karma, and move on with life.

In the scheme of things, I am generally happy with how I have chosen to live my life. It may be controversial to some, but it works for me. I need to eat something.. Why not something that I've watched grow, watched it learn, and plied my skills against their superior senses.
