Hello, I am wondering if anybody else has a redbone coonhound on here.
We currently have one, and we got her from the nearby shelter, they tried saying she is a mixed with something, but my parents have had one before.
She is about 6 years old, and just a family pet, me and my boyfriend want one eventually, but not until he will have time to train it to hunt.

So post your pics if you have any..

Here is mine, her name is Ginger

I have friends that just got a red bone and a black and tan pups!! Cute as all get out!!! I'll try to get pics of them next time Im over that way.

I have a bluetick coonhound. I love her to peices but she is becoming an investment in keeping alive. I think she's a byproduct of trying to establish the breed before breeding out the unwanted traits. Her mom was papered by some bluetick group before AKC recognized them as a breed.

We have adopted 2 hounds after we lost our Doberman Sasha of 10 yrs., now they are 2 & 3 yrs old...the female named Jolie is part Doberman & part Black & Tan Coon hound, the male Buddy is part Plott hound & part Black & Tan, both came up to NJ from the South, Jolie from VA & Buddy from TN. They have both watched our 10 chickens(9 pullets & 1 cockerel) grow in the house so that when they were finally put outside in their doll house shed converted coop & makeshift pen both dogs not only accepted the fuzzy butts but actually protect them from our overhead predators

Buddy came up on a Peterson's Express Transport (P.E.T.S) from [http://www.coonhoundrescue.com/] which was featured on the Animal Planet show "Last Chance Highway". My DH uploaded his story on his You Tube channel if you would like to see it here: [
] My DH likes to play around w/ video editing

Another funny video which any hound adopter may like is his "Rescue Dog Rap" seen here: [
] yea I know he is sick

I personally am not very pc literate but he made me a video channel which shows the relationship of the hens & hounds thus far if you would like to view it here it is: [http://www.youtube.com/user/HensAndHounds#p/u] hope I added all the links correctly

I know we will continue to adopt from American Black and Tan Coonhound Rescue in the future & anyone wishing to own a most appreciative loving hound that you can easily teach NOT to hurt chickens should do the same

They have males, females, puppies of all the hunting hound breeds & the detailed survey in which you take from Jayne has to be the absolute best in determining the best dog for your particular household as Buddy was adopted as a companion to Jolie sight unseen & he worked out wonderfully!

I Thank God everyday for bringing such wonderful dogs into our lives! Remember all the predators of our chickens are the "PREY" to these wonderful hounds so it's a win, win situation! You get to save a life & in return they will save your chickens lives

Awww they are ADORABLE.
Redbones are such a rare breed around here , I wish I had the funds, to breed them, and spread the words of how great a breed they are.
I live with my boyfriend, and he works alot, but he says if he ever gets a dog, its going to be a redbone.
They barely shed, and I love their bark too

They are truly great dogs.

Hope someone is still viewing this thread... But this is our 8 month old little girl "Jessie" we just rescued her about a week ago. She was picked up by animal control as a stray and was actually one day past euthanasia. I cant believe they were going to kill this adorable baby! She loves holding down furniture so far but DH will soon be training her on the coons :)
