My araucana chickens are about 14 weeks old. when will they start laying eggs.
do they lay eggs in the winter?

They will lay in the winter but in very reduced #'s. If they are "Araucana" from a breeder rather than many hatcheries then you will likely be looking at another 8 - 10 weeks before seeing first eggs. Check your other posts for other comments I made.

We incubated 13 eggs last year, 12 hatched. Two were Araucanas. The A's began laying earlier than the rest, one started at 16 weeks. But now she has stopped laying altogether. She seems healthy, no problems, but she stopped layiing when we got rid of the rooster. I've heard that A's can start laying earlier but can also be a difficult breed. I miss her beautiful blue eggs...

mine were sold as Araucanas, but who knows, either way, they are still not laying... at 23 weeks. From some other posts here it seems that they are on the late side in terms of laying. Only my Golden Comets are laying and they started at 18 weeks which is pretty early.

I have 3 aracaunas that are 24 weeks old. One has been laying for a week. Got 2 eggs from her in 4 days. The second egg was 3 times the size of a normal egg! The other 2 are inspecting the nest boxes daily, but no egg yet.

I have four which are probably really 'Easter Egg' chickens instead of real aracuanas (sort of a mutt). They laid pretty early--like 18 weeks. Green eggs.
