Hello. I am buying this trio in a couple of days and have been told they are bearded. Just want to clarify as I have had people tell me they are not bearded or that they are only partially bearded? I live in Australia if that helps, I know different countries have different standards and stuff.
Pic 4 is Mum and Pic 5 is Dad. Sorry for the bad photos, it's all I can get lol

The two pullets on top are not bearded.

Here's an example of a younger silkie that's bearded. They are evident about a week after hatch, but unknown for a couple of weeks as to how full it will be. Bearding should hide or almost hide their wattles. His bearding isn't full yet here, but he sure has a good one now.

You can breed a bearded to a non-bearded, and you'll end up with some with nice beards, some with degraded/smaller beards, and some with no beards.

If you breed two bearded silkies together, the bearding gene is dominant, and you will get 100% bearded silkies.

In my opinion, they are not any lesser a beautiful silkie if they aren't bearded. It's up to you if you're planning to show or not, or just a personal preference. I think those you've posted are all gorgeous!

@Debbie292d is this bearded? She has amazing other features and I really hope she is. I think she is.View attachment 4004589
I showed you a lot of pictures of bearded silkies in your post. This one is probably one that came from a bearded bred with a non-bearded so hers is way reduced. I would say she has a bit of a beard there though if that's what you are asking.

Which one did you say the judge asked you about the beard, not this one was it?

It was tb

You're not bothering me. I don't mind helping a bit. I had to learn too from others but it's been years now for me. I'm old, lol.

I think this one the judge questioned has a better beard than the other one. Like I mentioned, you can know at about a week old which ones are bearded, but you really won't know how full their beard will be until they are months older. Thus, this one's is coming in better obviously!
