I just posted in the newbies forum... but maybe I should have done it here instead? At the risk of repeating myself, we've had chickens for 3 weeks now, 3 Buff Orps that are laying, and 2 Barred Rocks that should start soon. We also have 3 kids and 2 mini schnauzers... and everybody gets along amazingly well.

Well, just finished cleaning the temporary henhouse and the brooder.

The 4 wk old chicks are outside enjoying the day for awhile. Give them a break

You know, I dont get how a hatchery can get the sex wrong on a barred cochin. Arnt they sexed by the spots on thier heads just like barred rocks?

I will have to get a pic of my little barred cochin pullet (roo) Still has all the baby fuzz unlike the others. I know a little cochin roo when I see one. And the wattles on this little pullet are huge and red.

Sorry for the little rant.

Hi macmama.

I noticed the schnauzer in your picture. How did you get your dogs to be OK with your chickens? My schnauzers want to "play" with mine so I have to let the dogs and chickens out at different times. I know each dog is different but I'm curious.
I did get my dogs to leave the tortoises alone, but tortoises don't do exciting things like fly and run across the yard when they notice that everyone else has left them.

On Generosity: I heard the founder of Craigs List speak a couple of years ago. He commented on how many good people their are in the world. More so in general than he might have originally expected. BYC is like that. So many great people - like you guys!
