Arkansas Blue egg layers

Out of the dozen eggs set I ended up with 3 chicks. One was a very flighty, small pullet, wild as a hawk, which I rehomed. Here are the other two at around 9 weeks - the cockerel is calm and relatively friendly, the pullet shy and pretty flighty right now.

They can be very flighty. Leghorn and all that.

Yours are looking good!

They are really quite handsome birds. The splash is almost pure white. What I really like about them is the nice blue color and large size of the eggs they hatched out of.

They are also good in the heat. I can stand a bit of flighty for blue eggs and chickens that do not die when it hits 110 here.

I still debate whether the "splash" ones are actually splash and not just recessive white. I have two like that.

Normally my splash are much more heavily marked. They also get more heavily marked and darker with each molt I have noticed.

Mine look like that too. I have a nice Cockerel growing out now.

I will work on getting a picture today.

I think we are going to have to add white to the list of colors for this breed. I grabbed one if the ABs and got a better look. The feathers are definitely white. They did use white leghorns in the creation. So it was only a natter of time before white ones made an appearance. I am actually surprised it didn't happen before. Out of 22 eggs, I had 2 black (mottled), 2 white, and 1 blue.
