Wow, 10 pages of posts to catch up on!

Work has been chaotic the last week. We have this newish Developer who has a knack for breaking everything he touches; that is OK if you work in demolition but not so much in IT!!!

SandeeC I am sorry to read that Soy and the grass parrot did not make it. Not a good week at all

K Spot I had a good chuckle at your chicken math; left with 5 came home with 7

Your newbies are adorable!

Fancychooklady wonderful news that your garden walk was perfect! Well done! I would also like to read the article but the link is not working.

Vehve I do believe I would welcome some snow at the present; the cooler temps may help convince my broodies that they do not need to be broody! Nice pics!

appps I sure am hearing you regards integration … see below!

Wow .. did we get some rain during the week; 90mm in 60 minutes! The storm on Wednesday took out a tree in the front yard and flash flooding had me barricading the front and back doors from incoming water! Plus running around making sure all the gals were high and dry. Now the green (woo hooo) lawn needs mowing; definitely not complaining though!

I am feeling a tad over whelmed at present; reintegration is taking it’s toll on me. Where I used to be able to let everyone out and enjoy watching them. Trying to reintegrate Blondie has been hard and I seem to spend my time snatching Blondie from the beaks of b*tchy chickens! I spend their whole free range time acting as Blondie’s body guard keeping Dusty and Cilla at bay. The first day they ganged up on her, jumped on her back and started pecking very hard. Today is day 4 and hopefully it will be a bit easier, each day they seem to be a little more accepting but they have managed to corner her at least once each day when my back was turned.

To try and sum it up … Tina is protecting her ‘babies’ (who are now bigger than her but her broody hormones have convinced her they are babies again); Cilla is ignoring the ‘babies’ but trying to pick on Tina. Tina is picking on Blondie but I can forgive that, she is just protecting her little ones. Dusty and Cilla are picking on Blondie and at present I only have one chicken who is not causing me angst .. LuLu!

Because of the above, their set up is still split into three sections and I wonder if I will ever, once again, have one happy flock. Being the weekend, I have two days of quite long free range time so hopefully there may be a light at the end of the tunnel!

Right now though, instead of looking forward to spending time with the gals I am kinda dreading it

I hope it settles down soon!

Edited to Add: I forgot to mention One piece of good news .. I do believe, after 3 weeks of stamping her little foot, holding her breath and generally spitting the dummy, Cilla may just be on the brink of being broken from broodiness!! This has also been one more ingredient in my 'not a happy chicken mum' pie! Oh yeah, Tina also requires locking out of the nest box or she would sit in there all day with Spot and Gloria right by her side

You know this reintegration thing would be much easier if penny didn't make an effort to keep pepper as far away from the other two as possible sigh

On a positive for those fleeting seconds they do come together one ignores them and the other just gives a couple hey remember you are below me pecks. Nothing they didn't before pepper.

Has been gorgeous weather since that rain came through hey :) Nice and chilly here this morning :)
Thank you for the good luck :) Nearly lost my bantam chick yesterday, left her alone too long due to exams and running errands :( But she is still snuggled up in my bed as we speak lol
Made a nest for her and had my hand in with her all night, her name should be Lucky I tell ya. am wondering if her internal organs are fully formed or my intervening getting her out of her egg has bought her out too early :( (I know I had no other choice, her egg and body temp were cold)
I live on Obley Rd between Dubbo and Molong :)

Sadly it didn't stick around for long, but rain is due about monday I believe.
I'm between Cowra and Young, things are very dry at the moment and there's alot of fuel about. A fire would be potentially catastrophic.

That fig tree does look lovely Sam. I've never tried fresh figs, but my mother raves about them. I wanted to ask those who have apple trees and chooks, are the unripe apples ok to throw in the chook run? My apple tree finally had a lot of apples this year and has just dropped a heap of them. I think the heat got to it because it they are supposed to do the apple drop when the apples are much smaller.
