I'm a cairn fan, myself, but there are a lot of Aussies in my life because of my mother. She was bitten by the Aussie bug several years ago.

One of these on the couch is my aunt's dog, and Elvis, the dark one on the floor, died a couple years ago. He was everyone's favorite - such a sweet dog.

Mom also raises painted desert sheep. Bottle babies tend to get very used to dogs.

Mom does all sorts of things with her dogs. I believe this is Fast CAT.

We never really want gifts for ourselves, so come Christmas or birthdays we tend to send eachother gifts for our respective animals. This year I sent Brie a toy goose, since Mom doesn't keep geese. We can't all be perfect. ;)

What beautiful babies! Love them!!

But is there a breed of dog you don't like?

I am finding that i have a lot of LOVE & appreciation for a variety of breeds.

Since I've had difficulties w/ purebreds (sometimes for a lot of $$), I've gravitated to mixes & rescues. The breeds have varied - A LOT. I grew up, off & on w/ dogs. 1st ones were Dachshunds. A variety of mixes. In teens, had mixes & always wanted one of those "hard chargin''" little hardworkin' Cattle dogs (Aussies, not cattle dogs). Always at least one dog in our home until Army. Then it would be a few years...

Since, I've had some Aussies. I've also had a lot of mixes, adopted from co-workers, friends, rescues & animal shelters. The most we've had since back in states (1993) is right now w/ 4 small dogs (except when we had an accidental litter w/ an Aussie & then years latter w/ our daughters dog).

I'll finish my reading (16 pages, WOW), then come back to post about our Aussies...

I like dogs with no tails, or short tails. Too many years of milking cows and getting swatted in the face with tails. We had that black and tan coonhound that sure could give head knocks with his tail.

I know the feeling well. Part of the reason we have the crew now is because the pit (mix?) had a tail that would leave bruises on my legs. Then, I started getting blood clots..

My love of either "no tailed" dogs or curved over the back fluffs, grew stronger. Working at a spay/neuter clinic cemented that. AMAZING how
many owners do.not.train. or even handle their dogs... Before I broke my ankle, I was already having serious issues developing fear of larger, tailed dogs w/ no socialization, handling or basic training...
