This is a story about when hobbies collide.
If you've been around any length of time you know I've been a longtime player of the Magic: The Gathering card game. That involves lots of cards, some of which are printed in foil (and are more rare/sparkly). Unfortunately, the process Hasbro uses to do the foiling can cause the cards to curl up, or "Pringle". This sucks. A lot. It's easy to pick them out in a deck, which means you can be disqualified for having marked cards in tournaments. In short, Pringles bad in this context.
To combat this, normally you expose them to a little humidity and press them with something heavy. like an unabridged dictionary. This can take up a lot of space though, so I got a bit more creative. I found a quarter-scale book press model and then shrunk it even more. Then I 3D printed it. With a couple of pieces of cardstock to help buffer the stack, I now have a pringle sandwich I can leave on a shelf some place and let it do it's work for a couple of weeks.
