I recently bought 3 baby chicks from a wfc country store near my home and one of the randomly died this morning. We bought 5 from there too about a week ago and 2 of them died the same way as this one did. We don’t know what it could be, my mom thought it was the food but she’s crushed it and changed it and they’ve still died. We bought about 8 other chickens from a Chs in a different area of where I live and they’ve all been healthy and still alive. We chose the chicks that seemed the most energetic and we don’t know why they keep dying. They have the right amount and type of food and clean fresh water and a heat lamp and their box is big it’s half under the lamp and the food is on the other half so they don’t get too hot. When they die they’re always chirping before and my mom checks them out and then when she holds them they start to get weak and have their eyes closed and seem to be struggling to breathe then they just stop and we feed them and give them as much water as we can while they’re like that and they drink and eat but don’t seem to get better and we press on their chests to get anything that they could possibly have blocking their airway but nothing has saved them. Please help!!

They may need some electrolyte or even some sugar water for a boost of energy. Sometimes they get So low in blood sugar from all the traveling they can't recover. I personally do one teaspoon of brown sugar in a quart of warm water for the first day or two. Chick electrolyte should do the same thing. Make sure they are drinking it a few times a day.

Check for stuck poop on the vents. Get them drinking some SaveaChick electrolytes or give Poultry NutriDrench. Some chicks may suffer from shipping stress or rough handling. If they have been at the feed store for a number of days, they may be weak if they are nit getting enough to eat or to drink.
