Hi everyone, these two cuties were born May 13, making them 18 days old. Are they too young yet to feather sex? First two pictures are first chick, next two pictures are of the second chick.

Thanks!

I am watching for chest feathers but they are feathering in so much more slowly than the rest of my chicks. However, the one with the dark primaries is getting dark leg feathers. Does this mean what I think it does?

I'm betting you have a pair. Typically it's hard to tell on Salmon Faverolles because hatcheries have been churning out stock that are very poor examples of their breed. Since Salmon Faverolles Bantams are pretty uncommon, I assume they're more likely to follow their breed standard and be easier to sex. I'm making a lot of assumptions but that's what I'm thinking :)

For sure, now, at 35 days old, it is without question true that I have a pair. I'm posting these for anyone searching for sexing faverolles.

Yep. He's a boy.
Will you keep him?
Unfortunately, I cannot. I have begun asking around with local friends to see if anyone wants rare breed roosters. I'm really fond of the girl in this pair and I'd really like to keep her. Roosters are not allowed in my burb. I'm not sure if a tiny rooster crows any less loud lol.

Nope. It's higher pitched too. I have one full size SF rooster and a bantam Sebright. The Sebright is noisier than the SF.
