Bantams egg size comparison?

My New Hampshire bantams lay a 3 oz egg.

That is an amazing size egg for a bantam. A 2.5 oz and over is considered Jumbo.

I have Bantam Cochins. They lay 1.4 to 1.5 oz eggs. The size would be labeled small if you bought them in a carton at a store, but they are bigger eggs than some other bantam breeds. Cochins aren't flyers and are easy for my kids to handle.

I have bantam game, cochin, and d'uccle. I would have to say the cochins eggs are the biggest but the d'uccle is a close second. They started out tiny but after a year or so they have become decent sized eggs.

Reweighed an egg and it is at 1.3 ounces not 3 ounces.

Sorry about that mistake!

I know this may not matter to you anymore, but I though I'd post this anyway

These are my bantams eggs for comparison starting from the left, my RIR's egg, Plymouth Rocks egg and the D'uccle's midget egg. All in a regular size egg carton.

Thank you Animalian.

I think this is an interesting subject and would like to see more participation. It's really helpful when it's possible to actually weigh the eggs, but picture comparisons are of a great help too.

I posted a Pic for egg comparison om a thread last week, bantam vs Standard I believe. At any rate there is a Pic. with a store bought Large egg, Bantam Wyandotte egg, and Bantam Cochin egg.
