Beautiful Ohio
Goats have a case of the barber pole worm. I just dewormed with SafeGuard per the vet's instructions. I also have copper bolus on hand but haven't given any. Can I? How long should I wait before administering since I just did the dewormer? Vet recommended deworming once a month every month. Opinions?

Are you sure your goat(s) are deficient in copper? Personally, I wouldn't give a copper bolus unless I knew. Too much copper is deadly. If your vet recommended worming once a month then worm once a month. Goats are far more susceptible to worms than sheep are.

They are displaying some signs like rough coat and a few have fish tail. :(

Worms will cause a rough coat. How is the color of their hair? It might be a good idea to ask your vet before you treat with copper. He should know if copper deficiency is common in your area. If goats need copper, they need copper. If they don't and you give them copper, you can kill them.

I did ask my vet and unfortunately he has not heard of copper bolus which kinda concerns me. My mentor who lives about 20-30 minutes from me breeds Nigerian Dwarfs and blouses once a year. She has a different vet and I believe he has mentioned our areas being deficient. I also give Mana Pro loose minerals.

Coats seem rough and course along with a couple having the fish tail as I previously stated. Color looks good but isn't bright or shiny. Color just appears normal or flat, I suppose. It's not an off color.

Have you been able to check out the BYH site yet?
