For type (breed characteristics) Tom's hen is a beautiful example of what a cochin should look like in size and shape. Color in barred cochins is hard to achieve and like Tom said they are coming around and in a couple more generations he should have good crisp barring. I currently have some F1 barred cochins (project) that are about 9 weeks old, all males and will be crossed back to black females this spring. The barreds are not common but are still in existence and breeders like Tom are working not only to keep them around but also up to the Standard description. Thanks Tom!
