Barred Rock Roo/Hen differences?

Ummm....yours are more black than white. Mine are more white than black. I was hoping mine were hens and this morning my hopes were dashed as I was standing at the back door watching them.....mine crowed!! So, I am thinking yours are girls and mine are boys. On my byc page is my barred rock....not dark like yours...sniff.

Here is a pic of the 2 "pullets" together. They look just alike color-wise; the only diff is the little nubs on the back of Louise/Louie's legs (beginnings of spurs?) & the tail feathers. Louise/Louie is on the right. Sorry the photo isn't better.

CRAP, CRAP, CRAP! Did I mention CRAP?! Good thing I asked the lady that sold it to me about this occurrance, should it happen. Looks like I'll be making a little trip this weekend to trade out for a laying hen...
Now I still have to figure out who laid the new egg yesterday--OBVIOUSLY it wasnt LOUIE!

Please be careful trading birds with folks like that. If a bird leaves my property, it is never allowed back due to the risk of what it may have contracted while gone (since I know my flock is disease-free). You risk getting a sick bird, which you can't always tell by looking, and she risks her flock as well. Sorry, I just have to caution people about this trading back and forth business.

Thats definatly a roo. Looks like my Lindy. I have one roo thats light one thats dark. Can you keep him? They are great roos or at least the ones I have are. Very tame and friendly.

Cynthia--thanks for the warning. I understand completely. Unfortunately that was the deal that was made during the sale.
Sheila--yes, i could keep him. the thing is, I DON'T WANT A ROO! Had one once (RIR) & hated the little bugger. Don't like the crowing and since i am not in the market for hatching ckicks, i don't NEED a roo.
I am very happy for those of you that love roos, but unfortunately, i am not such a person. To each his/her own, eh?
