Open Contest Battle of the 'Bators—16th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

Awesome, I’m jealous!

The view is quite impressive! Definitely an advantage.

Wow, that’s some high humidity. I wonder if the hygrometer is off.
No idea if it is...but we've been hatching 50% for the most. We did have one set that only 2 chicks hatched. We think the cold in the barn had something to do with that

  • Manufacturer- Brinsea
  • Model- Ovation 56 EX
  • Egg Capacity- 56 standard chicken eggs
  • What I like about it- easy peasy and rock steady! We pretty much set temp and humidity once at the start of incubation and again at lockdown and it maintains temp and humidity perfectly. Also a big fan of the large viewing area during hatching...huge improvement over the styrofoam incubator we started with!
  • What I don't like about it- I'm not thrilled about the beeping noise it makes as the turner rotates. Husband thinks he's funny and has taken to calling "they're turning!" every time he hears "beepbeepbeepbeep" Also, the lid design allows fluff to get between the layers but is difficult to clean between the inner wall and the outer walls. But in the end these are very minor complaints.

The Nurture Right 360 incubator from Harris Farms. Holds 22 eggs, and I usually get about a 50-72% hatch rate! I love that it’s an automatic turner, but I do wish that it was easier to set, as I have had more than my fair share of “setting” the incubator to day 21, but it doesn’t actually set

I'd like to give this a go.

Our incubator isn't a high class but a mediocre priced generic one.

Manufacturer and brand are the same: NyPots
Model number BODJ65W9J4
2 TRAYS 8 goose or 18 chicken eggs which we have lavender orpington/isa browns 18 eggs in. We're on day 10.
I love the auto turn and stop with stopping at day 18. Love the candles, and easy to clean. It's quiet, nice air flow, excellent at maintaining the temperature.

What I don't like is the humidity can be tricky...I haven't figured out how to drop it below 70%. We have had high hatch rate...View attachment 4085795View attachment 4085796View attachment 4085797
We are hatching today 🥰😍

First....started a tad early as we just flipped to 21 days. Oh..I put only water in one bottle and made sure to level the whole incubator...what do ya kniw...the humidity dropped from 71% to 46% !!!??
