Can you feed the tops of beets to chickens

I love beet greens; steamed with a little garlic and dressed with a dash of balsamic vinegar... delicious. Use it like spinach.

Yeah, anything a human will eat is fine for a chicken, and a bunch of things that most humans won't eat as well.

When I canned some home grown beets I fed the cooked beetroot peelings to the chickens. The next morning when I sent down there I thought they were pooping pure blood. Bright red poop everywhere. Then I remembered the beets. Nothing to worry about, just the beets. I later found out that red cabbage turns the poop a fluorescent blue.
I'm not sure how much beet tops will color the poop. probably not as much as the cooked roots.
