Best DIY Chicken Feeder?

Which would be the better diy chicken feeder? Why? I have a small flock of 5 hens.

I'm not sure which one would be better but we've got the one on the right, only it's 5-gallon buckets. We got the ports and hole saw from Amazon. It was $6.49 when we bought it about a year ago, so maybe shop around a bit as I see now it's $21. Wow!

We set the buckets on pavers so the ports are higher off the ground as they are put toward the bottom of the buckets.
 
I personally use hanging 5 gallon buckets that I put the ports in and they work great for my chickens. Minimal waste, rodents can’t get in, and every few days I just dump almost a full bag in. I haven’t ever used pvc feeders, but I would imagine it would be difficult to fill them without spilling a bunch of feed everywhere
