i somehow acquired 2 runaways and i have questions. please help

i was just wondering...
how does one know when the other is going to go lay an egg?
it's happening now and i've seen it a lot, where they will be in the pot all quiet. one will just get up and stroll away and the other one stays. like she knows.

when they are just getting up to forage they will go together.

just something i noticed and wonder about

A couple of videos of mine that I think you will enjoy.
First is this one.
Not the full-on bar fight of the other day, but you can see some of them have potential if they put their mind to it.

This is the one I was looking for. Not bread, but apparently tasty and the chase is on!
i see the second one a lot!!! especially when somebody finds a snail. lol!

ok. i have blocked off the nesting boxes. i put in a small box with some bedding in it and one fake egg.

louise already laid an egg today.

thelma snuck in and tried the box twice. she came back out and gave up.

i've got them in the small run now with a treat keeping them busy. and i'm bringing the monitor back to the hospital. it was quiet when i left but louise hasn't seen the new weird things in the coop.

wish me luck! 🤞🏼

Chickens are weird. I have one who will wait for her best buddy to get in a nest box. Then she jumps in the nest box with her to lay her egg. She waits EVERY day for her to pick a box and then immediately joins her, lays her egg, and leaves. 😂
omg!!!! that's not a good friend!
