Best lap breed for heat tolerance - heritage and landrace specifically

My cochins and orpington always loved being picked up. they'd come up to get pets and peck the other chickens if they got to close to me. You have to spend a lot of time (and money in treats lol) to get them to enjoy being around you but once you do it's worth it. Nothing is more peaceful to me then sitting in the chicken run and petting cuddling them
 
If you are serious about showing in 4H, I would see what their requirements are for chicken showing. I am not familiar if they require actual breeds like standard chicken shows... I think that people find silkies friendly. I like my Australorp, she is pleasant to be around.
You may want to rethink only having two. I've never shown chickens, so I do not know how removing one for shows could effect coop dynamics, but I believe it is usually recommended that you have three for companionship, to help run interference, and in case you loose one.
