my 20 week old NHR has a strange lump on her chest, it doesnt hurt and she seems very happy and healthy BUT I noticed today it seems to have gotten bigger?? I checked her for any cuts no cuts she looks fine dont think its infection, I am OCD about the coop I clean it everyday and I give them only a healthy diet (I go by the book lol) Im baffled and very worried!! she is my favorite, when she was a chick she never grew her wing feathers all the way out, so they curl and she looks like she was cinged by fire, Im hoping its not genetic she is such a sweetheart, any Ideas?? what should I get just incase it is a absest and it blows I want to treat it?? HELP PLEASE!! I will get a pic of her tomorrow, looks like she swalloed tennis ball
Is it on the right side, between the neck and breast? Then it is the crop. Where chickens store food. Perfectly normal. It should get bigger during the day when they eat, and shrink during the night, usually.
Yes as a matter of fact it is on the right side!! yeah it doesnt hurt when I touch it or look around shes fine with me poking around it, its not hot, cool that makes me feel better
and I do give them scratch about every other day for a treat, it did look like she ate a tennis ball it was pretty big and when she walked is swayed back and forth,
I think we must all go through that scare when we are learning. When it first happened to me I freaked out and thought my girls all had tumors! Now when I see those big lumps I feel glad....knowing that they are happy and eating well.
