Hi there everyone! I have a Black Spanish Hen that is 2 years old. From the time she was a wee little thing she had imprinted on me. Would follow me and just love on me, and call for me when I would go outside. A few months ago she ended up having a severe injury which resulted in me having to separate. The injury required me to clean her wound twice a day (up until it started healing) and absolutely no aggression. She would never fight me when I would touch her wound. Infact she would always lay down and let me do what I had to do. Now she's back out in the coop and of course fully healed, but now has become very aggressive, and im just not sure how to fix this. She will want me to come to her and wants me to love on her but when I reach out she always pecks the crap out of me. I try to not react at all even though it hurts 😅 but I've tried just leaving my hand in front of her to show her I'm not going to hurt her, and have even gotten down on her level so she won't feel as threatened, but it's gotten to the point where I can't look at her and if I do react she tries jumping me. If I ignore her she won't mess with me, she will walk around me making noises trying to get my attention, but that's it. The moment I turn my attention to her she immediately goes into a strut position. What do I do? I just want my sweet baby back! This aggression is only towards humans. She rarely messes with the other birds!

She is trying to dominate you because she doesn't understand the difference between people and turkeys.
She needs a flock of turkeys to interact with
I invited all my human imprinted jakes to dinner and started over.

By removing your hen from the flock she lost her place in the pecking order. As the lowest member in the flock she is now placing you as the lowest member.

Your tolerance of her behavior is contributing to the problem.
She will want me to come to her and wants me to love on her but when I reach out she always pecks the crap out of me.
You are misinterpreting her actions. She is not coming to you for loving, she is coming to you to assert her dominance over you. She is treating you the same as she would treat another turkey that she feels dominant to.

I doubt that you will ever get this hen back to the way things used to be.
