I have a baby eastern wild turkey that appears to be completely blind. It was sick a while back and started acting like it couldn't walk good, like it had no balance, I finally turned all my chicks and turkeys out and noticed this one still walking like it has no balance. It eats fine and drinks the same, just listens to where the others eat from and goes there. You can talk to it and it comes running to ya but doesn't appear to see you at all. You can put your fingers in front of its face and all the way up to its eyes and it never flinches a bit. My question is should it be alright to make it on its own, has anyone else experienced this too? Thanks!

I have a 6 week-old guinea keet that is blind. Peewee was the same size as the other hatchlings when he was born, but in the following weeks he ended up about one third their size. I tried separating him from the group to try and beef him up, but he peeped constantly, a very sad peep. He didn't seem to be able to get water, or maybe not enough water on his own, so I got him out of the brooder several times a day for water. He seemed to know there would be water for him when I picked him up, but not really where. I held the waterer in front of him, but he might turn left, right, or underneath it. However he did start to grow ( still the smallest keet) and went from the brooder in the basement to the outside pen with the rest. He eats, drinks and roosts with them. I don't know how free ranging(during the day) will go,in about 4 weeks, but we'll give it a shot. I'm hoping he can make it with the group of 26. I'll also have feed / water available in the pen all day. Good luck with your turkey. Hope he can make it with his group too.

Thanks everyone we're gonna give this a try and hopefully everything works out. He seems to be doing fine right now though.

I have one now with these exact same things. Blind and doesn’t seem to grow. Mine is about 4 months old now and seems perfectly normal other than blind and not growing. I was wondering if your baby made it ok? I’m braced for a tragedy everyday but so far so good.
