Blood in faeces

Where can I get it in the UK? Can I link other threads here? I did a google search which brought me back to BYC and the guy said it's prescription only?

It's not my prescription though it may be easier to get through a veterinarian, I would try eBay or Amazon or whatever you have over there in the UK the medication that is active in it is called amprolium

Thank you for the advice I will have a look to see what I can find. Would it be safe to treat her for vent gleet at the same time using Canesten cream?

In the UK you can get Coxoid a brand of amprollium, or toltrazuril, another cocci drug, but they may need to come from a vet. I don't see why you can't use canesoral. Sorry, but I am ill and not answering many posts today. If you have any pets that need vaccinations, now would be a good time to show up with some samples of chicken poop. A fecal float for worms and cocci are the same for them to read, it's just that some vets won't do anything without seeing the patient, and most won't see chickens. Mine will at least look at fecals, but one of the newer vets that started recently has an interest. Just keep checking around. My vets employees are not helpful when I ask for favors, but th vet is usually willing to help. Many buy a 100x microscope, and try learning to do them at home. Or just treat symptoms.

Amazon is the place to get it. It's marketed for pigeons but just the same ~ https://www.amazon.co.uk/Petlife-Ha...493271007&sr=8-3&keywords=coxoid+for+chickens
Thank you for the link, I will bookmark it.

After phoning another 2 vets this morning I finally found one that will do the test and see chickens but they're an hour drive. He took my details and said he was going to phone their lab to find out costs and that he'd get back to me but did say it costs more than the wormer.

She seems a bit better today, looks like she has a bit more energy and has a little bit more colour in her comb. I can't see anything moving in droppings but her vent doesn't look good and she is still drinking a lot of water. I'm having a hard time bathing her because she freaks out and I have a open wound on my hand.

This is the closest photos I could get of her vent

I found worms :( It wasn't in her droppings but the other bantam that came with her and there was a lot. All my bantams came from the same guy, we got 3 a few months ago and they all seem healthy and happy apart from one laying soft shelled eggs.

Small white worms on the left

Came from this black bantam

That might be tapeworms, which can be hard to get rid of. Look with a magnifying glass at any samples to see if you can see the flat, short, worms moving. Casportpony has good information in her threads about worming. I think she recommends using products with praziquantel, such as Zimectrin Gold horse paste and Equimax. It is always best to get a fecal sample checked by a vet for different worms.
