Hey all!
I was just thinking earlier..
I recently took in a blue Frizzle Cochin x silkie rooster from a friend who couldn't keep him due to recent health issues. He is indoors for the winter as he needed a bit of tlc and needed to quarantine anyway. His health has improved
dramatically since being here and his quarantine is reaching it's end, I was beginning to consider which hen I would like to bring indoors to be his companion until springtime when they will be moving outside to join the rest of his new flock. I am torn between my two friendliest girls, one is a blue Silkie hen with slight buff leakage around her neck and the other is a nice looking pure buff hen. I am leaning towards the buff because she has been known to be the most welcoming of newcomers. I wondered though, if I bring her in for the winter and decide to hatch a few of their eggs just for fun what might I get from that pairing? Any hatched chicks would be added to my pet flock, I have my own separate breeder flocks but love hatching interesting mixes sometimes to add into the mixed flock. Curious what this blue Frizzle Cochin/silkie might create with a pure buff hen. I would like to add that I don't know the background of the rooster as my friend had only gotten him earlier last year from someone she knew, he does appear to have a few buff/reddish feathers around his neck and I do have a photo of his mother! No idea what his father looked like.
First two photos are of him after a bath when he first got here, he was molting. Last photo is his mother. He has fluffed up considerably since these photos and his comb is no longer pale.
