Omgosh, they are so beautiful. I have some SLW eggs from some of Foleys birds. Unfortunately they were not all fertile and the air cells were all damaged. I am trying hard to get some to hatch out of the dozen I bought. What size eggs are your SLW laying? The ones I received are pretty small.I actually made 2 trips to KY. The first trip I got a pair of Breeding Pair of SLW and a Juvinile pair of BLRW (BLRW Roo and a Splash pullet I think she is about to start laying now) The SLW Hen came from a different pen than the Roo. Her eggs were fertile for 7 days and I think I have 4-5 chicks from her first eggs. Nothing since. The second trip I only got the BLRW Roo and 4 Hens and a trio of SPW too. The BLRW's their eggs were not fertile for a few days. I think he had the roos penned up. But since the first fertile egg they have almost all been fertile since. I set anywhere from 3-7 eggs at a time. Not usually a full weeks eggs..... and they are almost ALL hatching well.
Here are the SLW I got from Foley. I also have a trio of Foley Line SLW. Those are the pullets I am going to put with the SLW Roo. The Hen is molting... still, but lays an egg most everyday
These are the younger ones I hatched. These were taken a few months ago. The pullets are getting red now
Quote: Not small, about the same size as my BLRW.... Med-Large? I have not weighed them...... They may have been pullet eggs.
Quote: i have a pair of bantams (blue roo black laced hen) and now a TRIO of LF. blue roo, black and splash hens. (it's all J. Foley's fault on that 3rd girl - and the fact that hubby liked her too. LOL)
