Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

I actually made 2 trips to KY. The first trip I got a pair of Breeding Pair of SLW and a Juvinile pair of BLRW (BLRW Roo and a Splash pullet I think she is about to start laying now) The SLW Hen came from a different pen than the Roo. Her eggs were fertile for 7 days and I think I have 4-5 chicks from her first eggs. Nothing since. The second trip I only got the BLRW Roo and 4 Hens and a trio of SPW too. The BLRW's their eggs were not fertile for a few days. I think he had the roos penned up. But since the first fertile egg they have almost all been fertile since. I set anywhere from 3-7 eggs at a time. Not usually a full weeks eggs..... and they are almost ALL hatching well.

Here are the SLW I got from Foley. I also have a trio of Foley Line SLW. Those are the pullets I am going to put with the SLW Roo. The Hen is molting... still, but lays an egg most everyday

These are the younger ones I hatched. These were taken a few months ago. The pullets are getting red now

Omgosh, they are so beautiful. I have some SLW eggs from some of Foleys birds. Unfortunately they were not all fertile and the air cells were all damaged. I am trying hard to get some to hatch out of the dozen I bought. What size eggs are your SLW laying? The ones I received are pretty small.

I am on a mission to get a BLRW ,,,and I think a Bantam would be cool but I would take a Standard too....I have my 6 new baby girls now just 5 days old, and I love 'em.,...but at the time there wasnt a blrw available.......so I still gotta have one of those.

well, i'd been talking with a few friends who have birds from Jerry Foley, and although i really wanted to add one (or more) to my group, I had other things higher on the priority list to find at the show today... well, i found a nice young pair of blue bantam cochins and settled on 1 of Foley's laced girls. not blue laced red, but black, but MAN is her red DARK! she almost looks solid black from here.

very sweet girl too. I had CTR surgery this past monday, so carrying around a transport cage/carrier wasn't an option, so any birds i got were carried to the truck and deposited into the apropriate travel cage. well, this girl got carried around for a while, as i kept getting sidetracked by other things on the way to the truck (like watching the runner duck judging - odd to say the least LOL). she just sat there patiently, even to the point of laying her head on my arm and falling asleep when i had to sit down for a few minutes. even when i had to pass her over to hubby she didn't make a fuss.

as for age, i'm guessing 4-5 months. a little younger than my splash blrw girl. she's just hanging out in the travel cage and learning to accept that the dogs WILL run by but won't bother her.

i'll try to get a couple pics tomorrow, if i can fix my camera... it got dropped when i got ot of the truck and now the battery door won't stay closed.

Karen glad you could make it to the show. Hope the surgery was successful too. Can't wait to see pictures

I was in a picture taking mood today.... I got some newer pictures of my DARK BLRW roo and the Splash Pullet. The pullet did not want her picture taken. She is really not that ODD looking she is just looking over her shoulder. The roo is as wide down his back as his dad. He is finally getting they wyandotte look too.

Hopefully I am going to get to move the older BLRW outside in a few days. 1 bird left in the pen they are going to get moved to.

Here is a pic of my SLW egg and I weighed them too

the egg with E's on them are around 67g
