Illegal!! Bobcats are protected!!!
make your coop cat proof or risk getting a HUGE fine
Murder is illegal too, but if someone breaks into your house in the middle of the night and you help them permanently cease and desist, it ain't considered murder. I would think circumstance would justify a lot.
You can contact your local Wildlife and Parks people and find out what paperwork is required to get reimbursed for livestock loss to them. You can if you have a farm etc take it off your taxes. We have the problem but I love them of the Bald Eagles eating our birds, I just fill out the paperwork and it may take a bit but I get my money back. I just do it if they eat the rare stuff. There are programs for it if nothing else in most states, also I would go to your home store and buy several of the Horse pannels they are simmilar to cattle panels but are the 2X4 wire. I use them around the bottom of my pens, I have everything trying to have dinner here. Bobcat, coyote, fox, raccoon, bald eagles, neighbors dogs, I could go on.
Just a thought.....
not protected in Oregon either, links in page one for dispatching nuisance bobcats and the hunt regs for bobcat. looked up Oregon as thats the state Columbiacritter lists as home state. interesting that Oregon lists coyotes as non native species and its illegal to release a trapped one.

Season for Bobcat in Most of NY state too....no bag limit, no "hours of shooting" limit (meaning you can shoot them after dark). A bobcat comes into MY YARD? It's gonna die, in season or not. SSS (33 acres of woods out back, so no problem with neighbors ...they'd just think we were after the freakin' coyote that almost walks up to our back doors...
