Bought feed, pungent smell; safe to use?

I bought a bag of feed earlier this week at my local feed store. It was the last bag of high protein feed they had in stock. When I got home and opened it, the feed smelled a bit more pungent than usual. I was concerned it's rancid, but I poured it out and it was still dry. My only concern is about the smell: it's not acrid, but it's a more smelly smell than I remember smelling in bags in the past. Did I buy rancid feed? Is it safe to feed to my quail? If it's safe for them, will I be safe eating their eggs?

Are those fines clumped up looks like it is clumped up from pic but can't tell for sure? Does bag have a mill date for feed?

I see clumps in there too. Looks like it got a bit wet then dried out.

By the way, that feed is really, really low on methionine.

Never seen that low was thinking miss print when looking at it.

I would return it. I would also add some black sunflower seeds to boost the methionine levels.
