Brainiacs wanted. Not emergency. calcium free feed for EYP? Surgery? Suprelorin?

I took her in at two weeks and one day post implant. An alternate vet did her best to aspirate the egg material (visible on ultrasound prior to the implant appointment). Since that appointment (9 days ago) she was able to reabsorb any remaining material, and she has no palpable fluid accumulation.

She did begin a light molt the day of that appointment-15 days post implant.

Her comb is now lighter (for a good week now). Picture added to show Orpington's comb compared to her best hen's comb. Plus, the babies.

All in all, the girls seem to be doing well. My concern is the longevity of the implant. So I'll remain vigilant assessing her presentation.

I'll keep the updates coming for future reference.

I was hopping on to post that we're going back tomorrow for the second implant-she started squatting this week. It's the smaller of the two available dosings for ferrets. she is completely happy right now and i hate to take her back for another implant but i know it's necessary for her overall health. She still does well with the hormonal personality changes r/t the implant with her best hen Sussex, but with us she becomes difficult to catch or guide back into the secured run at nighttime if i'm trying to get them in a bit before sundown. Although once caught, she's content to let me carry her around. I think we got about eight mos, maybe a hair more out of the implant (i'll be checking my post hx momentarily to verify). I have read that over time the implant will get less and less effective. But, since she'll be four this year, i'm hoping that she'll stopping laying sooner rather than later. Perhaps next year my husband and I can cover abdominocentesis procedures as they arrise. Sussex is the same age as Orpington and has only layed a few eggs through the fall/winter season.

abridged update.
