Breeding pens from dog exercise pens

This is how I make my breeding pens. I use 30" dog exercise pens for the sides and dividers, and 48" ones for the tops. Inexpensive and VERY versatile. You can reconfigure them very easily.

I do the same for a movable pen so the chickies can work my garden beds in the spring and fall. I made a canvas top so they can have some shade.

I was thinking about getting a dog exercise pen like that to let mine browse around the yard in different areas. I'm glad to know others are trying this. We have a lot of shade so I was thinking of just clipping bird net over the top.

ETA: I see you're in Ireland. I can see how you might have trouble finding them.

Are they the octagon ones and you just put them together in rectangles?

That's not one of the particular ones I buy, but yes, they are like that. They are already put together, but two of the sides are just clipped with spring clips. You can open the clips and stretch it out to 16' in length. They are 8 panels, each 2' wide.
