Above two pics are eslin redquill. You can see the damage on the roosters comb which was a straight comb. Frostbite is just a norm around here.

Got rid of the California valley and the Tennessee Red quails and all my guineas and this girl just so happened to fly away and is now a free ranger. Quails are something to watch as they basically run and only fly when scared.

Measurements 2x4s on base are x2-36” and x2-33”. Wire is 2x4” opening and it is 18 sections and seven sections high if that helps.

this post will be about learning not being rude so please don’t take it that way. People are very sensitive nowadays. First will talk about npip certification. Npip is a joke n is no real way to measure if ur flock is clean so please remember that people. In Michigan to become npip certified they test ten percent of your flock for only one disease. And nothing else so it’s a joke. Next will talk about getting birds. Different states require different things to be done to get the bird into a different state some are more strict then others. And most of this is a joke bc if u have a friend that’s a vet they just pre sign u a bunch of certifications and away u go. So take that for a grain a salt. Still rules but a joke in my eyes. Next will talk about buying fibro birds. Most people don’t even have what they really say they have. Take your time on purchasing them don’t get to excited. Make sure they provide paperwork n track it back to the actual importer to make sure u r getting what u order. Even this process someone can lie to u n just say it something else on paperwork so be cautious. Dont waste ur time on eggs yes it’s cheaper but then again u don’t know what is actually in the egg and u don’t know if they’ll hatch n what they will look like when adult. Spend the extra couple bucks n just buy a pair u can see and like. Now we shall make it to the types of fibros. Below are pictures of different fibros to learn about. Starting with svart Hona. Very good in cold weather I’m in Michigan and these r my experience for the last five years. Group of different fibro chickens under a porch then u have a single svart Hona rooster. Frostbite damage but very nice however not good enough for me to breed. If any birchen leakage it will be males only and out of700 last year only two had leakage and very small amount around the neck they were culled. U should not have blue ears in svart honas. Every now and then U might get some. Also very rare. Females always dark. Skin color and meat will never be black dark charcoal if ur lucky. U will even encounter a more greenish color skin or the grayish color skin if black it’s mixed. Ayam cemani not picture here. Expensive n r horrible to raise compared to every other fibro bird out there. Would not recommend them in the cold environment. Get sick easy, get picked on, just junk in my eyes. Then u got people that have raise birds landrace well that just means they don’t care about a perfect bird n just chuck abunch of roosters n hens and then just let them breed I would not buy from this kind of breeder. As it will take u long to get the fibro traits u truly desire. Cemani do leak birchen color more then svart honas. Don’t let people tell u they produce nice birds all the time that’s a lie n they just want u to buy there birds. It will take u several years to get the fibros to be darker. Koren males do have birchen leakage normally. Males only females will be black. Meat will be like svart Hona. Next is Hmong u can see the close up under the porch With two colored roosters darker saturation of fibro traits is good stock b will be brown like the picture. Bad fibro with inbreeding will leak birchen like the other colored rooster. Females black males brown. Skin like svarts. Super good birds for size n extreme wheather friendly both hot n cold. Then u get into the fibros people are making. u can see a cemani mix all huddled in the corner. These birds will come with colors right out of the egg or be just black both male n females. If u look closely u can see the baby mixed cemani it’s 11 degrees right now as well. U can expect having the blue ears if the bird is not black as u can see in the picture. As the naked neck u can see for yourselfs. I have spoke to two universities about fibromelenistic saturation relativity to black dots within the eggs after hatch and it’s not mold or anything like that and still waiting for a response. (Thought being more black dots in eggs the darker the birds fibro traits) Hope this helps and if u would like to share your thoughts to educate people that’s great. Closing statement. Look for adult birds. Go see them in person and the farm u r getting them from. U will be able to tell more about if U want the birds just by being at there farm, check the laws to ur state, follow thru all the way to u feel comfortable and then get ur pens ready then get ur birds. And enjoy. Hope u guys found this a good read.
